I've always been cheering for them to succeed, but it's hard to recommend them to friends or visiting guests as it's not consistent. In the time of craft beer and supporting local businesses they need to supply what's high in demand!!!
Beers where ice cold and tasty. Food was always great. My last visit was with a buddy for a couple beers and the bartender was bad. Empty glass sat for over 15 minutes while we talked. Zero interest in checking back with us. Knocked a star off for lousy bar staff. It wasnt even that busy and we were nice.
I give THPH this low rating bc the food is always hit or miss. Some visits the food is spot on other times it's mid stream or even uneatable. Their prices are high for the quality of food. I think they need to concentrate on perfecting basics and focus on what's on tap. Mostly if these guys could vamp up their beer taps to local Vermont & even Maine beer company's this would draw in more business. There's no reason why they can't carry a similar list as The Farmhouse, Pro Pig or Bobcat Resturants. Also originally when they opened they carried local wines, such as Shelburne Vineyard, now they don't, which I find discouraging and gives me another reason to go elsewhere.
Food was delicious. Service was horrible. We waited 20 minutes after being seated until server came to greet us and another 20 after we had finished our meals (at that point we literally shouted "ma'am" to get her attention). We had our hungry newborn with us so made it extra tough.
On a side note, the lady working the bar is a doll, super nice and always accommodating.
Decent location, helpful staff. I really enjoyed my drinks on the patio.
